Skelaxin is a muscle relaxant.
It is used in conjunction with rest and physical
therapy, to treat muscle injuries and other painful
muscular conditions.

Skelaxin Side
Effects |
|
Studies show that serious side
effects may occur with the use of Skelaxin. If you
have any of the following symptoms, you should go to
the emergency room immediately: paralysis or extreme
weakness, vision loss, red, black, or bloody stools,
vomiting blood, difficulty breathing, swelling of your
lips, tongue, or face, hives, or agitation or tremor.
Some minor side effects may occur while taking
Skelaxin. These include insomnia, headaches, blurred
vision, drowsiness, dizziness, hiccups, ringing in the
ears, nausea, vomiting, or constipation. Talk to your
doctor if they continue or give you problems.

Skelaxin Warnings |

Avoid using alcohol while taking Skelaxin as it may
cause you to experience stronger side effects such
as drowsiness or dizziness. Be extra cautious when
driving or operating heavy machinery.

Skelaxin Drug
Interactions |
|
Some drugs can increase the
effects of Skelaxin, which can lead to heavy sedation.
Before beginning this medication, tell your doctor if
you are taking any of the following medicines:
antihistamines, chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton),
azatadine, clemastine (Tavist), narcotic pain killers
(Demerol), morphine, propoxyphene (Darvon, Darvocet),
hydrocodone (Lorcet, Vicodin), oxycodone (Percocet,
Percodan), fentanyl (Duragesic), and codeine (Fiorinal,
Fioricet, Tylenol #3); sedatives such as phenobarbital,
amobarbital (Amytal), and secobarbital (Seconal);
phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine),
fluphenazine (Prolixin), mesoridazine (Serentil),
perphenazine (Trilafon), prochlorperazine (Compazine),
thioridazine (Mellaril), and trifluoperazine (Stelazine);
or antidepressants such as doxepin (Sinequan),
imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor),
fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline
(Zoloft), phenelzine (Nardil), and tranylcypromine (Parnate).
Other drugs may also interact with Skelaxin, so make
sure to talk to your doctor or pharmacist before
taking any prescription or over-the-counter
medication.

Skelaxin Missed Dose |
|
If you miss a scheduled dose of
Skelaxin, do not take a double dose to catch up. You
should skip that dose and continue on with the next
scheduled dose.

Skelaxin Storage |
|
Keep Skelaxin at room temperature. You should avoid
storing this medication near sunlight. Skelaxin
should not be stored in moist areas such as a
bathroom, or near a sink. As with all medications,
keep Skelaxin out of the reach of children.
