Levitra can be taken
every 24 hours, as desired. It works to block
an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5, or
PDE-5. It then relaxes smooth muscles in the
penis and increases blood flow. A natural
erection can then happen with stimulation.

Levitra Directions |
|
Be sure to read and follow the
instructions for Levitra. If you have questions about
any of the directions, talk to your physician or
pharmacist for clarification. Levitra should be taken
with a full glass of water. It may be taken with or
without food. Levitra will work to help you achieve an
erection during sexually stimulating situations, but
it will not automatically cause one. Levitra should
never be taken with grapefruit juice or grapefruit. as
it can lead to a dangerous interaction. Most men can
take one pill in 24 hours, but your doctor may
recommend that you limit yourself to less than that.
If you experience any physical symptoms such as angina
(pain, tightness, discomfort, numbness, or tingling in
the chest, arms, neck, or jaw), nausea, dizziness
during sex, be sure to inform your doctor. Seek
immediate medical attention if your erection lasts
over 4 hours. Sustained erections can lead to injury
or even impotence.

Effects |

The most
commonly reported side effects of Levitra are
headache, flushing, indigestion, and nasal congestion.

Levitra Warnings |
|
Be cautious about using Levitra
if you have Peyronie's disease or any physical or
genital deformity. Some conditions such as leukemia,
multiple myeloma, or sickle cell anemia may cause
long lasting erections, so use Levitra with caution.
Contact your physician or seek emergency medical
attention for any erection that lasts longer than
four hours. A sustained erection can damage the
penis.
If you have a stomach ulcer, any bleeding disorders,
or retinitis pigmentosa, use Levitra with caution.
The safety of taking this medication with these
conditions has not been adequately studied.
Levitra does not offer any protection from sexually
transmitted diseases, such as HIV, the virus that
causes AIDS.
Women should never take Levitra. Its effects during
pregnancy have not been studied.

Before
beginning Levitra, you should inform your doctor of
any medication you are taking including cimetidine,
nitroprusside (any "nitric oxide donor" medicines),
erythromycin, nitrate medications, azole antifungals
(e.g., itraconazole, ketoconazole), mibefradil,
rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), or high blood pressure
medicines. You should always inform your doctor of any
over-the-counter medications as well.
